What Was the Problem?
Integrated Cash Logistics (ICL), a client of Currency Technics & Metrics (CTM), needed a way to modernize how their field personnel handled daily cash logistics tasks. Historically, much of this work relied on web applications or manual processes that weren’t optimized for mobile use.
ICL’s field personnel were responsible for managing large volumes of cash operations (like change orders and safe drops), but the existing tools were not optimized for mobile use. Employees had to rely on web applications or fragmented processes that:
Slowed down daily operations — staff couldn’t easily place or review change orders while in the field.
Limited visibility — real-time tracking of safe drops and deposits wasn’t always accessible, creating gaps in oversight.
Created inefficiencies — without mobile notifications, workers had to manually check systems, leading to delays and missed updates.
Increased the risk of errors — handling sensitive financial data without streamlined digital workflows made mistakes more likely.
The Challenge
ICL’s staff needed a faster and more reliable way to handle daily workflows like change orders and safe drops. Existing tools slowed operations, limited visibility in real time, and increased the risk of mistakes. The challenge was to design a secure, intuitive mobile app that centralized all essential tasks and made them instantly accessible anywhere.
Another key challenge was the ambitious timeline — I had only one month to design the entire app, create the component library, prepare dark mode versions, and deliver complete handoff documentation. This required a highly structured workflow and efficient decision-making to meet the deadline without compromising quality.
The Solution
I designed a cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android that put ICL’s most critical workflows directly in the hands of their field personnel. The app allows users to place and track change orders, monitor safe drops, and receive real-time notifications — all within an easy-to-use interface tailored to their daily needs.

Placing An Order Safely
A major gap the application solved was ensuring staff could place an order with complete accuracy. By requiring a declared total amount and the selection of an available delivery date for that store, the user can only submit an order if the sum of all bills and coins exactly matches the declared total.
This greatly simplifies the control and auditing process of the cash delivered to each client, making the workflow more precise and trustworthy.

Ensuring Transparency and Accountability in Every Transaction
Order History gives staff and managers a reliable way to review pending and completed orders with full transaction details, ensuring accuracy and easy follow-up. Safe Drops provides real-time visibility into all cash deposits, including denominations, amounts, and store references, making the process more secure and auditable. By combining both, the app delivers greater transparency for ICL and empowers staff with trustworthy records that reduce errors and strengthen accountability.

Creating a System
To ensure consistency and scalability across the project, I created a custom design system that defined all recurring elements — from typography, color styles, and buttons to form fields, modals, and notification patterns. This components library not only streamlined the design process but also made development smoother by providing a unified visual language and reusable assets. It guaranteed that every screen felt cohesive while allowing the app to grow with new features in the future.

Seamless Dark Mode with Figma Variables
To enhance usability and accessibility, I designed a complete dark mode version of the app using Figma variables. By defining corresponding color tokens for every element in the design system, I was able to instantly transform all screens into dark mode simply by placing them inside a specific frame. This approach not only ensured visual consistency across light and dark themes but also made the design more efficient to maintain and scale.

Developer Handoff Documentation
To bridge design and development, I prepared a detailed handoff documentation that explained every aspect of the app. It included annotated screens, usage guidelines for main components, interaction flows, and notes on edge cases. This ensured that developers had clear references, reducing ambiguity and speeding up implementation while keeping the final product aligned with the original design vision.

Conclusion
As the UX/UI designer, I transformed complex financial workflows into a simple, mobile-first experience for ICL’s field personnel. This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can bridge business-critical operations with usability, delivering tools that are both powerful and intuitive.
