What Was the Problem?

Integrated Cash Logistics (ICL), a client of Currency Technics & Metrics (CTM), needed to modernize how its field staff handled daily cash operations. The work depended on web apps and manual steps that weren’t made for mobile, which:

  • slowed down change orders in the field;

  • limited real-time visibility of safe drops and deposits;

  • forced staff to check systems manually, without notifications;

  • increased the risk of errors with sensitive financial data.

Integrated Cash Logistics (ICL), a client of Currency Technics & Metrics (CTM), needed to modernize how its field staff handled daily cash operations. The work depended on web apps and manual steps that weren’t made for mobile, which:

  • slowed down change orders in the field;

  • limited real-time visibility of safe drops and deposits;

  • forced staff to check systems manually, without notifications;

  • increased the risk of errors with sensitive financial data.

The Challenge

The app had to make these tasks fast, secure and available anywhere. The timeline was tight: one month to design the whole app, build the component library, prepare dark mode and deliver complete handoff documentation.

The Solution

An iOS and Android app that puts ICL’s main workflows in the hands of field staff: placing and tracking change orders, monitoring safe drops and receiving real-time notifications.

Placing An Order Safely

To place an order, the user declares the total amount and picks an available delivery date. The order can only be submitted when the sum of bills and coins matches the declared total exactly, which makes every delivery easier to control and audit.

Ensuring Transparency and Accountability in Every Transaction

Order History shows pending and completed orders with full details. Safe Drops shows every deposit in real time, with denominations, amounts and store references. Together, they give ICL reliable records and fewer errors.

Creating a System

I built a design system with every recurring element, from typography and colors to forms, modals and notifications. It kept the app consistent, sped up development and left room for new features.

Seamless Dark Mode with Figma Variables

Using Figma variables, I created color tokens for every element, so any screen switches to dark mode just by being placed inside a specific frame. Both themes stay consistent and easy to maintain.

Developer Handoff Documentation

The handoff included annotated screens, component guidelines, interaction flows and edge cases, so developers could build without guessing and the final product matched the design.

Conclusion

I turned complex financial workflows into a simple mobile experience for ICL’s field staff, delivered in one month with a design system, dark mode and full documentation.
